Special Hobby 1/72 Fairey Fulmar Mk.II (SH72368)

Today's review is dedicated to the new kit from Special Hobby - 1/72 Fairey Fulmar Mk.II. For some of you this plastic might be familiar because it was released way back in 2009. Nevertheless, Czech manufacturer decided to give it a new life, add few goodies and release new version of this famous airplane. As you can guess, due to the age plastic doesn't have some features that can be found on modern releases from the same company. Nevertheless, let's open this nice box, and take a closer look at all parts.

Сегодняшний обзор посвящён новому набору от Special Hobby - 1/72 Fairey Fulmar Mk.II. Для некоторых из вас этот пластик будет знакомым, так как он был выпущен в уже далёком 2009 году. Тем не менее, чешский производитель решил вдохнуть в него новую жизнь, добавив несколько дополнений и выпустив новый вариант. Как вы можете догадаться, из-за возраста пластик не похож на последние новинки от той же компании. Тем не менее, давайте откроем эту красивую коробку, и рассмотрим всё поближе.

There are several frames inside, all packed into the same plastic bag. On the photo above you can see the first one with fuselage halves. Both are molded together with tail segment, but don't have positioning elements inside.

Внутри несколько рамок, все упакованы в один пакет. На фото выше вы можете видеть первую, с половинами фюзеляжа. Обе отлиты вместе с хвостовым сегментом, но не имеют направляющих внутри.

Second sprue carries various external and internal elements. Note that there are several propeller versions, both will have separate blades.

Второй литник содержит различные внешние и внутренние детали. Обратите внимание, что даётся несколько вариантов винтов, оба имеют отдельные лопасти.

Wing parts are the last ones molded out of grey plastic. As you can see on the photo above, parts division is typical. There are no positioning elements inside, so get ready for careful assembly.

Детали крыльев - последние отлитые из серого пластика. Как вы можете видеть на фото выше, членение типичное. Внутри нет штифтов, так что придётся поаккуратничать.

Transparent parts are packed into separate plastic bag, so at least they won't be scratched. Molding quality is nice, but there are no masks, so you will have to cut them with your own hands.

Прозрачные детали упакованы в отдельный пластиковый пакет, так что хотя бы не поцарапаются. Качество литья хорошее, но в комплекте нет масок, их придётся вырезать самому.

Here you can see several bonuses, which come with this edition. There are nice resin wheels and unpainted PE parts, applicable for external and internal detailing.

А здесь вы можете видеть несколько бонусов из комплекта. Смоляные колёса явно лучше оригинальных, а неокрашенное травление пригодится как внутри, так и снаружи.

I was surprised to see that one and only decals sheet is printed in Cartograf. As you can guess, printing quality is nice. It would be also good to see decals for the cockpit.

Я был удивлён, когда увидел, что единственный лист с декалями изготовлен в Cartograf. Как вы можете догадаться, качество отличное. Было бы неплохо также получить декали для кабины.

Four marking options are shown on the backside of the box and inside assembly manual. The latter is printed in form of small brochure with short history note on the first page.

Четыре варианта окраски показаны на задней стороне коробки и также внутри инструкции. Последняя отпечатана в виде небольшой брошюры с исторической заметкой на первой странице.

Small Fulmar might be not as good as modern Special Hobby kits, but it shows one thing - progress. Moreover, old plastic is still interesting from modeler's point of view, even though it might require a bit more work with aligning parts. The same can be said about resin and PE add-ons. It is also nice to see Cartograf decals included out of the box.

Маленький Fulmar может быть не настолько хорош как современные наборы от Special Hobby, но это показывает одну важную вещь - прогресс. Более того, старый пластик всё ещё интересен с модельной точки зрения, хотя и потребует чуть больше работы. То же можно сказать о смоле и травлении. Также приятно было обнаружить декали Cartograf сразу в комплекте.
